For those in the Bay Area, you can hear attorneys involved in the Lexicon case present their perspectives on derivative works at "Fair Use in the Sky with Diamonds", a symposium to be held at the University of San Francisco on November 1, 2008. For more information, visit www.usffairuse.com.

A new 368 page book by author Steve Vander Ark called The Lexicon is being published by RDR Books (www.rdrbooks.com) on January 16. It follows Fair Use guidelines in Judge Patterson's decision which held that Lexicons are to be encouraged and added that the author of a fictional series does not have a monopoly on companion reference books. This book is based on the Harry Potter Lexicon website but has new content that does not appear online.
